9D8N Trip to Taiwan - Day two

Lalala it's the second day of our Taiwan trip and we're making a trip down to Tai Chung, and thereafter to the 薰衣草森林 (Lavender Cottage) and 逢甲夜市 (Feng Jia Night Market).

Had our breakfast at Mcdonald's at XiMenDing before we made our way to Taipei Main Station. I think it's really lucky that I brought a few packets of chilli sauce from the Changi Airport the other day, because you're not going to find any chilli sauce over at the Fast Food Restaurants here in Taiwan.

And so we went to take the metro train from XiMen station to Taipei Main Station via the Bannan Line (Blue). So, if you're not sure where to purchase the tickets, you just need to follow the signs that says "高铁 HSR" at the Taipei Main Station. Managed to get our High Speed Rail (HSR) tickets for 2 at 12pm  by simply using the ticket vending machines which cost us a total of NT1400.

Our HSR train tickets from 台北 to 台中

Taking a selfie before our train arrives.

The girlfriend taking a photo with the HSR :)

And so after waiting for less than 20 minutes, our HSR train is finally here and we're going to embark on a 40 minutes train journey to 台中. The girlfriend was so disappointed when she didn't see the train staff pushing the food cart during the entire train journey. And so after we finally arrived at 台中 station, it came to my awareness that the Bento lunch boxes are actually available for purchase at the station itself for just NT100.

The hungry girlfriend after waking up from a nap :)

And so after not being able to book a cab for the journey to 薰衣草森林 (Lavender Cottage), we simply hop onto any meter running taxi to go there. And after about 1 hour of car journey through the narrow mountainous route and multiple turns, I almost vomited when we arrived there. In case you're wondering, if you're coming here by taking a meter running taxi, the fare will round up to NT1100 from 台中 station to 薰衣草森林 (Lavender Cottage).

On a side note, I'm so happy that I can finally be here since I'm a fan of Lavender ^_^

Love the fact that the price of the ticket, which is NT100 per person comes with a NT100 coupon for us to purchase souvenirs from the shop too. Totally value for money ^_^

So happy to be here for the Lavender Festival 2016. Do you know that the Lavender season are between the months of November to April.

Ring ring, coming through :)

My Lover :)

Me and the Taiwan bear

Love the beautiful Lavender :)

This is really a instagram friendly place don't you think so?

Wrote down our hopes and dreams for our future and hang it here hehe

Created our own personalized post card to be mail back to Singapore from the 薰衣草森林 (Lavender Cottage). It'll take about a month plus for it to reach us. Can't wait for it to arrive soon.

So, it took us close to about 2 hours to explore the 薰衣草森林 (Lavender Cottage) as well as getting the souvenirs from here. Woo.. I love the smell of Lavender so much. Really enjoy coming here and although the cab fare is really steep coming here as a couple since there's only 2 of us to divide the cab fare but I think it's worth coming down if like myself, you've never been here before.

Time for us to head back to our hotel, and in case you're wondering we're taking the same taxi back to our hotel since you won't be able to get any available taxi here if you didn't have a driver waiting for you here. And so the one hour car journey begins again from the 薰衣草森林 (Lavender Cottage) to our hotel for the night; the Red Dot Hotel.

Honestly speaking, this is one of the best hotel stay ever, well other than Hard Rock Hotels. Love the unique boutique design of this hotel, and of course the slide that we can take to slide from the second level to the first level. Awesome and fun hotel don't you think so. You can check out the hotel here.

After settling down for awhile, we head out to get some food to munch on as we're so hungry from all the walking and long car journey. Luckily just right beside our hotel, there's a mini 中華路夜市 where you'll see lots of push carts selling finger food of all sorts here. Settled down at a mini restaurant to try out the local food before we head over to the 逢甲夜市 (Feng Jia Night Market).

The girlfriend ordering my favourite salted chicken for me. Yummy Yummy :)

It's time for 逢甲夜市 (Feng Jia Night Market), and since it's so near we just flag any meter paying taxi to head over there. I love this night market so much as compared to the other night markets at Taipei, simply because the area is really huge and there are so many shops selling Line Friends items such as motorcycle helmets, clocks etc. We are so hooked to it that I have to get the Brown motorcycle helmet back with me even though I do not have a Class 2 motorcycle license and that such helmets are not allow to be used in Singapore due to safety reasons too.

The girlfriend's many facial expression when eating her favourite food

I really love seeing the girlfriend getting so excited from playing all the games here like those dart shooting and gun shooting games. Won a bear pillow for the girlfriend after she kept asking me to try out the gun shooting game. That silly girlfriend :)

Our many Line Friends items from Taiwan ^_^

Had so much fun today. Had to rest for the night before our long bus journey from here to the 清境農場 (Cing Jing Farm) tomorrow.

9D8N Trip to Taiwan - Day one

Finally we arrived at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport at 4.45am. So happy to get here earlier than expected. So, we can't get the sim card upon our arrival since it's way too early and the shops here don't operate 24 hours like in Singapore so we just got to make our way to Xi Men Ding.

When you exit from the arrival hall, turn right and you will see the telecommunication counters which are open only from 8am to 12mn, proceed to take the travellator heading downwards. You will see a big sign stating "Bus to City". From there, you'll be able to get the bus tickets to Taipei from the Ticketing Counters. Look for the 国光客运 (Kuo-Guang) counter to get the bus tickets (1819) to Taipei Main Station. Each bus ticket will cost you NT125.

The freezing girlfriend as the temperature is now 12 degrees here

Do remember to be punctual as the bus leaves on time and do keep the luggage collection ticket properly when the bus driver issue it to you as you'll need it to collect your luggage later on.

Start of our 40 minutes bus journey to Taipei lo. The journey will be in this manner: Taoyuan International Airport -> Taipei School for the Hearing Impaired -> Ku Lun Street Intersaction -> Taini Building (Maykay Memorial Hospital) -> The Ambassador Hotel -> Taipei Main Station (Near taxi stand).

And so after alighting at Taipei Main Station, we head over to the Metro counter to get two single ticket  which cost NT20 per adult which will get us to Xi Men Station via the Bannan line. Because it seems that we're only able to get purchase the Easy Card from Xi Men station.

Lalala we're finally here at Xi Men Ding with NoNo. Head over to Hotel Midtown Richardson to put our luggage before heading out to grab some Taiwan traditional breakfast. Yummy yummy delicious simple food to ease my gastric pain before heading back to the hotel lobby for a rest before we head back out for a walk when the shops are open.

Finally the shops are starting to open from 10am onwards and I can bring the girlfriend to try out the 阿宗面线. So many yummy yummy street food here at Xi Men Ding. We even went to play the capsule toy catching machines and we caught two of the mini toys hehe.

Walk till our stomach started to growl so we head over to 馬辣頂級麻辣鴛鴦火鍋 for our lunch. Yummy buffet that cost us NT598 during the weekends, but caught us by surprise was the cleaning fee that they will be charging the customers on a per head charge of 10%, which meant we will be charge 20% on top of our bill. But well, nothing to complain about since the food is good.

Walk around for abit before heading back to check-in to our hotel and rest our eyes before heading out again. Rest will 6pm+ before we head over to 士林夜市 by taking the Metro train via the Bannan Line to Taipei Main Station and transfer to the Tamsui-Xinyi line to JianTan Station. Lalala so happy to be here with the girlfriend and seeing her play all the darts shooting, gun shooting and basketball games. Walk till about 10pm+ before we head back to Xi Men Ding and rest for the night.
